The Showtime Porno Video Awards

We know the end of humanity is upon us when the “Porno Video Awards” are given international cable television propagation on the Showtime network.

What is the purpose of giving light and air to the disgusting and degrading underbelly of humanity when real stars like Tracey Ullman deserve our rapt attention and devotion?

As I was channel surfing — and happened upon the Showtime Porno Video Awards — I could not shake the feeling I could catch Herpes just by lingering on the channel too long.

I did not linger.

Pornography changes us in awful and unfortunate ways as viewers and as re-creators — and the fact that internet delivery of porn is giving us fresher, and more frequent, venial tastes and intimate lickings while providing devious diversions from our day — is a sad and contemptible re-shaping of what primarily makes us human:  Our imagination.

Porn disconnects us from the flesh.  Porn ruins the spirit of pleasure.  Sexual satisfaction is never delayed, but is always available, for the wasting.

To celebrate, via the Showtime cable television network, the sins of the darkest of us, is to destroy — with the sadistic purpose of utter glee — the very fiber that lets us tempt immortality by providing the ignition of life.

    Hi David,
I know I will be “yelled” at for citing Wiki; but Gloria Steinem on Erotica and Pornography is such a good read that I couldn’t help (I can the yelling!):

  5. Kathakali Chatterjee says:

Why be a “spoil one” David, when there is a choice to be the “good”?

  6. David W. Boles says:

I agree, Katha. There’s no need to travel the wrong way down a slippery slope.
